The Engineering Division administers the following permits:

RIGHT-OF-WAY PERMIT

A right-of-way (ROW) permit is required whenever utility work, pavement disturbance ,construction, encroachment or staging during construction, installation of improvements, or any other disturbance within the Town ROW is required.  A ROW of permit is required to ensure utilities, roadway reconstruction, and other work is completed to Town specifications and to provide for public health, safety, and welfare.

FEES AND FINES

 Permit Fee (Encroachment and/or Excavation - Asphalt, Concrete, or Curb and Gutter)  $386.00
 Right of Way Bond - TWO YEAR CASH BOND  Based on Project & Size - $1,000 Minimum
 Operating Without an Approved Permit  $300/Day
 Work Outside of Designated Permit Hours  $150/Day
 Street Not Opened to Traffic by 7:00 P.M. Each Day  $150/Day
 Temporary Cold Patch Not Applied in 72 Hours  $100/Day
 Hot Bituminous Patch Not Applied within 15 Days  $100/Day
 Failure to Provide Adequate Traffic Control  $300/Day
 Sweeping (Road and/or Sidewalk)  $100/Hour
 Infrared Replacement Not Applied to Roads 5 Years or Newer  Cost of Entire Infrared Replacement
 Slopes and Drainage Not Restored to Original Condition  Cost of Repair

INFRASTRUCTURE PERMIT

An infrastructure permit is required for projects that disturb one acre or more, major work in the right-of-way, and for public & private developments that involve public roadways, sidewalks, trails, stormwater infrastructure, potable water infrastructure, sanitary sewer infrastructure, lighting, Town-owned utilities, stormwater management, retaining walls, and other public infrastructure or improvements.

Contact the Engineering Division to confirm if a project will require an infrastructure permit.

DEVELOPMENT AND BUILDING PERMITS

The Town of Breckenridge Community Development Department issues Development and Building Permits.  The Engineering Division completes reviews, inspections, and signoffs of these permits.  Contact the Community Development Department for more information on these permits.

INSPECTIONS

The Engineering Division completes inspections of all construction projects within Town, including private and public development.  Permit holders are required to schedule inspections with the Engineering Division throughout their construction project by contacting the Engineering Division 24 – 48 hours prior to needing an inspection.
