MISSION
The mission of the Breckenridge Police Department is to consistently strive to provide the highest quality police service that anticipates and responds to the changing needs of our community. We work together to preserve and enhance the Town’s unique quality of life for those that live, work, or visit our community through active partnerships and problem solving built on mutual trust and respect.
VISION
To have a police organization that recognizes and appreciates the value and diversity of each employee and provides them with a learning and enriching environment for longevity and personal growth. We will have mutual trust and respect with our employees and the citizens we serve to improve the quality of life in our community and the organization.

We always treat everyone we contact with the same degree of empathy, respect, and dignity, with which we would expect members of our immediate family to be treated by law enforcement personnel.
Statute 16-2.5-301
The Breckenridge Police Department will request that the Colorado Bureau of Investigation investigate any and all incidents involving the discharge of a firearm by an Officer that results in injury or death per Statute 16-2.5-301.
§ 16-2.5-301. Peace officer-involved shooting investigations--protocol
- Each police department, sheriff's office, and district attorney within the state shall develop protocols for participating in a multi-agency team, which shall include at least one other police department or sheriff's office, or the Colorado bureau of investigation, in conducting any investigation, evaluation, and review of an incident involving the discharge of a firearm by a peace officer that resulted in injury or death. The law enforcement agencies participating need not be from the same judicial district.
- Each law enforcement agency shall post the protocol on its web site or, if it does not have a web site, make it publicly available upon request. The protocols required by this section shall be completed and implemented by December 31, 2015.
