The Hiring Process
The Town of Breckenridge hiring process can vary, but typically involves an in-person interview, followed by an initial conditional offer of hire for the selected candidate. Conditional offers may then be confirmed by the Town upon successful completion of reference checks, background reviews and any other criteria determined necessary by the hiring official or the Town.
The Town of Breckenridge is an "at-will" employer, consistent with Colorado statute.
Jobs are usually listed with a closing date... This means that you must meet the application requirements by this date. Refer to each job announcement to determine the specific requirements.
Some jobs are open until filled... This means that the supervisor will review applications at any time and notify candidates selected for an interview at any time.
Our supervisors schedule interviews.... The supervisor responsible for hiring will review applications and applicant qualifications, then select and SCHEDULE individuals by email or phone when an interview is desired by the Town. We often have a large response to some job announcements, and usually interview only the most highly qualified candidates based on our assessment. Generally, it takes a minimum of one to two weeks after the job announcement closes before applicants are notified of the status of their application. Some recruitments may take longer.
If you are not selected to interview... Generally, the hiring official will send you a status notification to inform you that you were not selected for interview.
If you are selected for hire... based on the job requirements, you may be made a conditional offer of hire. At that time, pre-employment requirements such as reference checks, background reviews, drug testing (if applicable for the job), and other requirements must be met. Our background check process fully complies with the "Fair Credit Reporting Act". The Town then may “confirm” the offer of hire and schedule you for new hire orientation and your first day of work.
Starting work... In most instances, you may not be able to begin work until you meet all conditions of hire. In addition, all new hires must be scheduled by the hiring official for orientation in HR (no walk-in permitted for new hire orientation).
