Finding affordable housing in the Breckenridge and surrounding Summit County area can be challenging and expensive, depending on your needs and the time of year. Individuals interested in living in the area are encouraged to devote adequate time and resources when seeking housing, particularly during the fall and winter months. The Town of Breckenridge has some transitional employee housing for new employees, although this is very limited.

The Town also manages and offers "Employee Downpayment Assistance" & "Rental Deposit Assistance" programs for eligible Town employees who are purchasing a home or renting in the local area. Many Town employees live in areas and municipalities that are in close commuting proximity to Breckenridge. The Summit Combined Housing Authority provides information regarding affordable housing projects in the local Summit County area. In addition, the Housing Authority schedules training for first-time home-buyers and individuals qualifying for government sponsored housing assistance programs.
