If the 20th of the month falls on a weekend or postal holiday, the next working day is the due date. Late returns are penalized with a penalty of 10% of the sales tax (minimum of $15) plus 1% interest for each month the payment is outstanding. Interest is also applied to any outstanding account balances at a rate of 1% per month.
