Starting May, 2023 the Child Care Tuition Assistance program has become a county-wide option and managed by Early Childhood Options. There is now one application for all child care financial assistance. Please go to Early Childhood Options or call (970) 513-1170 for more assistance.

Town of Breckenridge Program Background:

Since 2007, the Town of Breckenridge has provided nearly $10 million supporting local families and workforce through the Child Care Tuition Assistance Program. Supporting childcare is deeply rooted in the Breckenridge Council’s goal to fiercely protect Breckenridge’s authentic character and brand by ensuring access to affordable, quality childcare for local working-families. Breckenridge Child Care Tuition Assistance Program is a ‘needs based’ approach that can potentially provide tuition assistance when a family’s child care expenditures exceed 8-20%* of their income. The amount of potential assistance is determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to: gross income, child care cost, parents’ work schedule, the number of children in care, etc. The Assistance is paid directly to the participating Child Care Center on behalf of approved families. *On April 12, Breckenridge Town Council approved changes to the Breckenridge Child Care Tuition Assistance Program for the 2022/ 2023 program. These changes will go into effect during the 2022/2023 application period that opens on May 15, 2022 and closes July 1, 2022.

Summit Pre-K Program (managed by Early Childhood Options) was established when Summit County voters approved the 1A measure in 2018. Summit Pre-K Program (SPK) helps offset the high cost of quality preschool for all Summit County three and four-year olds in the year(s) before they enter Kindergarten. Many local families qualify for this incredible program, in addition to Breckenridge's Child Care Tuition Assistance Program. How to Apply for Child Care Tuition Assistance

County Wide Tuition Assistance Program is new in 2023 and the application is open for the month of May to families that fit the following criteria:

Live and/or work in Summit County
Have at least one member of the household working for a business located in and serving Summit County.
Earn less than 180% of the local AMI (Area Median Income)
- Below $159,600 for a family of two
- Below $179,640 for a family of three
- Below $199,440 for family of four
- Below $215,460 for a family of five
Household assets do not exceed $225k (excludes primary residents, college funds and retirement funds)
Have children (ages birth through the 3-year olds, two years before they enter Kindergarten), who attend a licensed child care program in Summit County
- Tuition Assistance for three (starting September 2022) and four-year olds (established in 2018) are covered by the Summit Pre-K Program.

*If your family has a qualified change outside of the regular enrollment period (such as move to the area, new baby, change in work status, etc.) please contact Michelle Mahoney with questions to see if you are eligible to apply out of cycle application.

How to Apply (Mid-May):

Create an online account with Survey Monkey Apply.
- If you cannot access the application online, please contact Michelle Mahoney to make arrangements.
Collect all the required documents prior to completing your application.
Submit your completed application with all required documentation.
- Please remove your Social Security numbers from all supporting documentation by redacting or marking through this information with a black marker.

Please Note:

There is no guarantee that a family who meets the eligibility factors will be awarded tuition assistance. There is no guarantee that a family who received tuition assistance one year will receive tuition assistance or the same award the next year.
Applications will be confidentially reviewed.
Applicants will be notified of potential award in the order that completed applications are received.
Any personal information, including financial information, submitted Early Childhood Options in conjunction with a Tuition Assistance Application will be used for the purpose of reviewing and rating applications, tracking program outcomes, evaluating eligibility, and calculating awards and will be subject to the confidentiality polices as provided in the Program Guidelines. By providing the information to Early Childhood Options you are authorizing the use of this information for these limited purposes.**
