ORDINANCES
LEASH LAW
Any dog off the owner’s property must be on a substantial leash, not over six feet in length and under the control of a person competent to control the animal. Any dog in an open vehicle must be tethered so that the animal cannot extend beyond the confines of the vehicle.

Loose animals can be hazardous. They are also more likely to be injured or killed by other animals, vehicles or other dangers they might encounter when loose.

An animal cannot be tethered on public property or upon private property without the permission of the property owner.

DISTURBANCES
It is unlawful for any animal to disturb the peace and quiet of any person or neighborhood by barking, fighting, howling, crying, etc.

ANIMAL BITES
Animal bites must be reported to the police department. All domestic animals must be observed for ten days following the bite to assure that said animal does not have rabies.

CRUELTY
Failure of any owner to provide adequate food, water, shelter, opportunity for exercise, or veterinary care for any animal constitutes a violation. In addition, intentional acts of cruelty, such as abandonment, harassment, or torture will be prosecuted.

PROHIBITION AND REMOVAL OF ANIMAL EXCREMENT
The owner or responsible person must remove any animal waste from public or private property before leaving the immediate area where the waste was deposited.

DOGS PROHIBITED
Animals are prohibited in the Riverwalk Center lawn, the fields of Kingdom Park, Cucumber Gulch, and the Breckenridge Golf Course.
