The Town of Breckenridge is seeking public comment on the proposed Renewable Energy Mitigation Program, also known as REMP. The goal of the program is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) from excessive outdoor energy use and to meet the GHG targets adopted in the Climate Action Plan.
After months of stakeholder workshops, the proposal was presented to Town Council at a worksession on July 13, 2021 at which time Council gave staff direction to finalize the program. Staff is conducting public outreach in advance of finalizing the proposal. This a 7 minute video describes the scope of the problem and how the proposed program might work in Breckenridge. Please submit comments to sustainablebreck@townofbreckenridge.com until January 15th, 2022. The goal is to go back to Council in February with a compilation of comments and final recommendations for their consideration.
