Summit County Towns invite residents to SPRUCE UP THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS

Town Cleanup May 15-23, 2021

Summit County, Colo., (May 10, 2021) – Head outside for some fresh air and help spruce up Summit County during the annual Town Cleanup. The Towns of Blue River, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, and Silverthorne are calling for volunteers to help clean up Summit County before summer. As the snow melts, those windblown and forgotten items from our busy winter season become noticeable, making spring cleaning a necessity. This year’s cleanup will take place May 15-23 to allow for plenty of time and space for physical distancing.

Cleanup supplies can be picked up May 15-23 from designated areas in each Town, or personal supplies can be used if preferred. Volunteers are encouraged to pick a favorite area near their home that needs attention rather than receiving an assigned area. Filled trash bags (50lbs or less) should be placed visibly near the side of the road.

Clean Up supplies can be picked up at:

  • Town of Blue River – Blue River Town Hall
  • Town of Breckenridge – Breckenridge Public Works
  • Town of Frisco – Outer Range Brewing Company, Highside Brewing or Frisco Town Hall
  • Town of Dillon – Dillon Town Hall
  • Town of Silverthorne – Red Buffalo Coffee and Tea or Silverthorne Recreation Center

After filling their trash bags, community members can post a photo of their Town Clean Up experience on Instagram by May 23 for a chance to win gift cards from local businesses.

One photo entry per person. Winners will be notified by each Town after the contest has closed.

Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP) and the High Country Conservation Center (HC3) work in conjunction with the towns to provide support for the countywide Town Clean Up. The SCRAP’s Annual Hard-to-Recycle Event scheduled for May 16 has been postponed. Residents should keep their household hazardous waste and electronic waste at home for now. When social distancing requirements change in the future, residents will be able to take these items to the SCRAP for recycling. For additional information regarding household hazardous waste and recycling, please visit HighCountryConservation.org or call (970) 668-5703.
