The Town of Breckenridge will be hosting a public open house to review proposed changes to the Handbook of Design Standards for the Conservation and Historic Districts on Tuesday, March 19, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm in the Town Council Chambers, Breckenridge Town Hall, 150 Ski Hill Road, Breckenridge, Colorado.
At the March 12th Town Council meeting, the Town Council passed the first reading of an ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on the submission, acceptance, processing, and approval of new applications for permits to develop real property located within the Conservation District. A second reading is scheduled for March 26th.
In the interim, Community Development staff will host an Open House March 19th to gather public input on Design Standard recommendations for the Conservation District. The staff memo with recommendations can be found here in advance of the Open House.
The Handbook of Design Standards was originally adopted in 1992 to establish design standards for all new construction and renovation of existing structures within the Breckenridge Historic District. The Town has recently hired Winter & Company, the creators of the original Handbook, to review revisions and new interpretations of the Secretary of Interior Standards for Rehabilitating Historic Structures in relation to the Town’s Handbook and relevant Development Code Policies.
At the Open House, the public will have a chance to review and give input on proposed design standard updates to the Handbook.
