Starting on October 15, 2013, a fee of ten cents ($.10) will be charged for most disposable plastic and paper bags given to customers at all retail and grocery stores within the Town of Breckenridge. This fee was adopted by the Breckenridge Town Council to encourage the use of reusable bags and dissuade the use of disposable bags, thereby furthering the Town’s sustainability efforts. Customers who use reusable bags at checkout will not be charged the $.10 per bag fee. Revenues from the fee are used to provide public information about the fee and to promote use of reusable bags.

All retailers are highly encouraged to attend one of three short, informational sessions (September 18 at 5:30pm, September 23 at 11:00am or September 23 at 5:30pm). Town Staff will be available to provide more information on the bag fee, the reusable Breckenridge Bags, and how to report and remit fee revenues collected.
